We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what information we hold about you. This policy explains how we gather and process your personal information.

How and why we collect your data

We collect information about you in the following ways:

  • When you contact us with a query or sign up for an event we may store the personal information that you send us (for example your name, email, telephone number, organization, address) for the purpose of responding to your query or providing a service to you.
     

  • When you use our website we make a note of how you access our website (i.e. from a computer, or a mobile device), and what parts of our website you use, using "cookies". This information helps us to understand how users interact with the website which in turn helps us to improve site content. Please see the cookies page for details of the cookies we use and how you can control them

How we use your data

We collect this information for the following purposes only:

  • To respond to your queries; with your consent we may also send you the Atelier's email update; 

  • To provide and operate the Ethnography Atelier website;

  • To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred non-personal information to assess the popularity of the webpages on our website and how we perform in providing content to you.

Legal basis for processing your data

We will only collect and process personal information from you on two bases:

  • Where we have your consent to do so, For example, where you have opted-in to receiving our e-newsletter.

  • Where the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your rights, For example, where you have signed up for our e-newsletter we may monitor your interaction with it to help us improve future communications.

Data sharing

We engage third parties to assist us with some of our data processing. These companies process data on our behalf and on our instructions. In these cases we require that these third parties comply strictly with our instructions and with data protection laws, for example around security of personal data. Other than this we will not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personal data.

Companies that process data on our behalf:   

  • Mailchimp: When you sign up for our email update we will add your data to our mailing list, which is managed by Mailchimp.  MailChimp is an email address management and message sending service provided by The Rocket Science Group, LLC. Data Processsed: name, email address and organization. Data is processed in the United States within the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework. You can see their Privacy Policy here.

Retention period for data 

We will only keep your personal data for as long as we need to in order to use it as described above, and/or for as long as we have your permission to keep it.

Request, modify or delete your personal data 

You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number listed below;

  • See what data we have about you, if any

  • Change/correct any data we have about you

  • Have us delete any data we have about you

  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Storage of personal data 

We take appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or unauthorized destruction of your data.
 

Our website is hosted on the Wix.com platform and your data may be transferred to the United States to be stored on Wix.com’s servers. Wix.com is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework and stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall. 

Opt out of future communication 

If you wish to opt out of any future contact from us you can do so at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number below. You can unsubscribe from our email updates by  clicking the unsubscribe link in any of our emails.

What type of information we collect

We may receive, collect and store personal information you send us via our website or provide us in any other way (this may include name, email, telephone number, organization, address).  In addition, we use cookies on the Ethnography Atelier website that collect aggregate data about users’ device type and screen size, approximate location, browser, Operating System, IP address, page visits, bounce rate, conversions and popular content on the website.
